Relate Plymouth and South Devon are delighted that the Level 5 Diploma will be offered from Relate Plymouthb centre in October 2015

This year long course, accredited by the CPCAB provides training for those people wishing to work as relationship counsellors with Relate and other counselling organisations. It also provides the first step for progression on to higher level courses.
After successfully completing the programme students will:
Have an understanding of aspects of psychodynamic and systemic theory and human sexuality relating to relationships
Have developed additional counselling skills for working with relationship issues
Be able to effectively work with clients within a Relate Centre or equivalent
The taught element of the programme consists of 12 days spread throughout the year. Those students who have not attended the Relate Institute Level 4 course Introduction to Relationship Counselling will be required to complete two additional days, the first will have a couple focus and the second will be on-line, focusing on Domestic Violence/Abuse awareness and safety training. Each day begins at 9.30am and ends at 5pm. Students will also undertake a placement at a Relate Centre or other approved clinical setting.
Those students who have completed a Level 4 course will be required to complete an additional 40 hours of clinical placement by the end of this course.
The clinical placement for those students who have not attended the Relate Institute Level 4 course will consist of 10 hours of active observations (to be completed by the end of Module 1) and 40 hours of practice by the end of the course.
